Students gathered to voice their opinions regarding a pop-up preacher on campus on Thursday, April 14 in the Library Quad.

Preacher Ron Underwood from Denver, Colorado was voicing his interpretation of Christian Scripture, including his views on homosexuality.

Dulce Macias, a sociology freshman, described herself as a Roman Catholic, but said she disagreed with what the preacher was saying.

“God is about love, and if you are a good person then you are a good person,” Macias said.

Other students voiced their agreement in regard to what the preacher was saying.

“I believe everything he says. I’m against everyone here,” Kimberly Ray said.

Beth Lesen, associate vice president of student engagement, said the Police Department on campus was kept in the loop in case something were to happen. The Police Department cannot intervene unless it gets extremely out of hand, Lesen said.
