The Pride Center hosted an event Wednesday afternoon titled, “You’re Cute for a Black Guy.”
The goal of the event was to start a conversation about how race can, and often does, play a part in romantic relationships.
Topics covered included what it means to be a person of color in today’s dating culture, and how to create a healthy dialogue about race with potential partners.
“It is really important because often we do not get a space to talk about these issues,” said family and consumer science major Donovan McKinley. “If people can’t talk about this to their family and friends, I hope this was a space they could talk about these things.”
