Safe In Sound Festival presented by Rockstar Energy drink occurred at the Sacramento Memorial Auditorium on Oct. 2 from 7 p.m. to 1 a.m. The sold-out festival featured EDM artists Dirtyphonics, Terravita, Zomboy, Bro Safari and Datsik.

“My favorite performer was definitely Bro Safari because that’s when the crowd really seemed to come alive in terms of getting really into the music,” said sophomore government student Yadira Ramirez. “Plus his drops were sick!”

As concert goers arrived at the venue, they were checked out by security and headed their way inside.

“I was very surprised by the turnout on Friday because I didn’t take Sacramento to be a major rave scene but I was glad I was able to be a part of something so big and fun,” said Ramirez.

Concert goers were greeted by flashing light shows and 150,000 watt wall-of-bass.

“When the floor started shaking, it was insanity! I felt myself going higher and higher as I jumped from the weight of everyone else around me jumping,” said Ramirez. “That definitely hyped everyone up too because shortly after I remember people starting mosh pits! I did my best to stay away from that!”

At around 9 p.m., the venue reached its maximum capacity and didn’t let anyone in regardless if they had a ticket or not.

“Doors opened at 7 p.m. and from what other ravers told me, capacity was reached at 9. Many people were still showing up throughout the night, but sadly for them, they were left at the door,” said senior sociology student Alejandro Ayala. “Having recently discovered the beauty of EDM, I was ecstatic to see what new tracks I would come across. Sadly, all I got was a night of dead air.”

Many concert goers expressed their frustration on the Midnite Event’s Facebook event page where it shows that more than 3,000 people were planning to attend.

In a response, Midnite Events stated, “…Sincere apologies for inconvenience if you’re one of the few that didn’t get in from will-call tickets, this was out of our control, but please contact us for a resolution and we will take care of you! We don’t leave our fans hanging!”

The venue realized multiple issues after the concert and will be working out a form of resolution for those that didn’t get in. Call (916) 808 – 5291 between 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. for assistance.

Before the tour ends prior to Halloween in Washington DC, it will travel back to California at San Jose’s Civic Center on Oct 23.
