With the turn of the season also comes the return and premiere of fall TV show season. Sacramento State students can enjoy new shows like “Scream Queens,” “The Muppets” and “Supergirl,” as well as see the return of their favorite characters on “The Walking Dead,” “How to Get Away With Murder,” and “Empire.”

“Scream Queens” is a highly anticipated series with genres covering drama to suspense and mystery. The story revolves around a type of Kappas sorority who are haunted by a ghost, “Red Devil,” seeking to be avenged. Scream Queens is full of well-known talent like Emma Roberts, Jamie Lee Curtis, Ariana Grande and Lea Michelle. The Kappas could not be complete without their fraternity counterparts; Nick Jonas and Glen Powell play frat guys in the show.

“It’s kind of like the MTV ‘Teen Wolf’– it’s based on the same concept, based off of a movie but it’s geared towards more teenagers,” said junior child development major Rebecca Miller.

“Scream Queens” aired on Sept. 22 and can now be seen Tuesday nights at 8 p.m. on FOX.

“The Muppets” return to television was accompanied with a lot of drama within the cast. Power couple Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy reportedly ended their relationship just before the premiere of the show. Unlike its 1970s counterpart, this new Muppets show has a bit of a reality with “The Office”-type twist.

“It’s cool, it’s like my childhood but adult version now,” said freshman kinesiology major Jonathan Rios.

“The Muppets” airs Tuesday nights at 8 p.m. on ABC.

“Supergirl” is yet another superhero show that will air this fall. “Supergirl” will be played by Melissa Benoist, more famously known from her previous show “Glee,” and appeared in the movie “The Longest Ride.” The action-adventure drama will keep everyone on their toes as they are shown how “Supergirl,” also known as Kara Zor-El, arrived on earth and lived hiding her powers before deciding to use them to fight against serious threats.

“Supergirl” will air Monday, Oct. 26 at 8:30 p.m. on CW.

“The Walking Dead” season six premiers this fall. Following the ending of season five, fans hope to see in this season how the drama and zombies play out. With Morgan finally caught up to Rick and his family, viewers wait and see how he can help them. Fans can expect to see a new character “Rich,” whether he is a friend or a foe to the new residents of Alexandria is unknown.

“I have never caught up, I stopped watching it [The Walking Dead] but I do still think it’s a good show,” said junior kinesiology major Gianna Warner.

“The Walking Dead” premieres with a 90-minute episode Oct. 11 at 9 p.m. on AMC.

A show with even more questions than answer is “How to Get Away with Murder.” Fans may already know why the show has such a name, but this season might be the time where the actual backstory of the characters unfolds.

“I’m interested to see who killed her [the main character Rebecca], they just showed the dead body and that was the end of the season, so who did it?” said Miller.

Viola Davis, who plays the main character Annalise Keating, recently won the Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series. Surely Davis and the director of “How to Get Away with Murder” are just beginning to show their true potential.

When “Empire” premiered on FOX, many doubted that it would last a whole season but episodes later it was the most-watched show on FOX. Now the show is on its second season.

The story revolves around a musical family and is partially a musical drama series. This season is set to have more guest stars like Chris Rock, Alicia Keys and reccurring guest Naomi Campbell. Loyal fans of Lucious Lyon, played by Terrence Howard, might be in for a heartbreak, as rumors say he will be appearing less during this season. “Empire” returns Sept. 23.
