Sexual assault reported at residential halls on campus

The Sacramento State Police Department received a report of sexual assault in the residential halls area at Sac State from an individual staying there on July 12.

The sexual assault reportedly took place shortly after midnight on Sunday. The press release sent out by the police department said, “The victim reports being sexually assaulted by a known suspect. The victim and the suspect are both adults temporarily residing in the residence halls, but neither of them are students of Sacramento State.”

The press release was sent out in compliance to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act of 1998 to help promote campus safety and aid in the investigation.

The press release also gave tips on how to keep safe while being on campus such as learning locations of the nearest emergency blue phones on walking routes and to always be aware of your surroundings.
