Rowing wins two races at Lake Natoma

The Sacramento State’s rowing team was back in action Saturday with a regatta against San Diego State University and the University of Alabama at Lake Natoma.

The Hornets took part in five races, finishing with two first-place finishes and three second-place finishes. The five races included varsity eight, second varsity eight, varsity four, second varsity four and novice eight.

The Hornets two first place boats were second varsity eight and novice eight. Second varsity eight won with a time of 6:55.6, finishing three seconds ahead of SDSU. Novice eight won with a time of 7:15.6, also beating out SDSU by three seconds.

Sac State’s varsity eight finished with a time of 6:55.6, trailing the first place Aztecs time by three seconds. Varsity four posted a time of 7:49.6, finishing four seconds behind Alabama who won the race with a time of 7:45.9.

Second varsity four finished with a time of 7:54.9, just two seconds behind Alabama. Novice four also participated in the second varsity four race and posted a time of 7:45 and finished last.

Sac State will not race again until April 5, 6 when it competes at the San Diego Crew Classic in San Diego.
