Sacramento State women’s basketball team broke its own record for most points scored in a Big Sky Conference game in a road victory over Weber State, Saturday afternoon.

The Hornets defeated the Wildcats 111-104, surpassing its previous conference record of 110 points in a victory over North Dakota back on Jan. 23. Sac State rebounded from scoring a season-low 53 points in a losing effort to Idaho State last Thursday.

Both teams combined for the most points scored in a single game in the history of the Big Sky.

Hornets freshman guard Gigi Hascheff led the way with 27 points, followed by senior guard Alle Moreno who tallied 22 points. Sac State junior point guard Fantasia Hilliard collected 16 points and 9 assists.

Sac State was 18-48 from 3-point distance, including 12 makes in the first half. Coming into the contest, the Hornets ranked first in the NCAA in 3-point field goals made averaging 12.6 per game.

Overall, the Hornets converted 36-85 field goal attempts while totaling 36 rebounds and 18 assists.

Six players reached double digit scoring for the Wildcats (4-15, 0-10), led by sophomore forward Kalie Matthews who scored 22 points on a perfect 9-9 from the floor. Matthews led all players with 15 rebounds.

Despite shooting 61.2 percent as a team, Weber State was unable to keep pace with the Hornets. The Wildcats had 30 assists as a team, but committed 28 turnovers.

Sac State (14-5, 6-4) continues its road trip as it faces Northern Arizona Thursday. Tip-off will be at 5:30 p.m.
