Peak Adventures has been providing knowledge on the outdoors for Sacramento State students since 1989. Trips include information relevant to the trip but can include lectures on the stars.

For their 25th anniversary, Peak Adventures is knocking 25 percent off the cost of various trips.

This discount is in addition to lower prices students receive from paying tuition.

According to Valerie Regner, manager of the Challenge Center, students receive discounts because they register for classes. A portion of the money a student pays for tuition goes toward Associated Students Inc., which subsidizes Peak Adventures.

Regner has been working at Peak Adventures for twelve years. One change she has seen is a younger demographic getting involved.

“We have seen growth in the freshmen classes…a lot more of them are using our services,” Regner said.

Even employees that have not been around as long as Regner feel a sense of comradery. Sarah Anderson, a junior, has been with Peak Adventures for four months and finds working on campus convenient and enjoyable.

“My experience has been cool. I really enjoy working here as a student. The people here are super awesome,” said Anderson.

Rad Beauton has been working for Peak Adventures for five years, starting out as a mechanic and has since worked his way up to shop manager.

“The staff here is always supportive and it is definitely a good community,” Beauton said.

A popular trip that Peak Adventures provides is the Starlight Snowshoe hike in the Tahoe National Forest.

“I have done that trip twice and it’s beautiful and everybody is always having a good time,” Regner said.

Peak Adventures will host a party May 10 celebrating the anniversary, according to Regner.
