Sacramento State’s men’s basketball team fell in its first Big Sky Conference game of the season on the road against Montana State, Thursday evening.
The Hornets (4-6, 0-1) were unable to start conference play on the right foot as they fell 70-55 to the Bobcats (6-6, 1-0).
Sac State junior forward Zach Mills scored a season high 19 points on 8-13 shooting, including 3-5 from 3-point range. Hornets junior guard Dylan Garrity was the only other player on the team to reach double-digit scoring, tallying 11 points.
Sac State struggled to shoot the ball, as it shot 38.2 percent and just 30 percent from 3-point range.
Senior forward Calen Coleman led the Bobcats, coming off the bench with 13 points. Senior forward Flavien Davis followed suit with 10 points on 4-6 shooting.
As a team, Montana State shot 47.3 percent, including 44.8 percent from 3-point range.
Sac State will stay in Montana as it squares off against the University of Montana Saturday evening. Tipoff is at 6:05 p.m.
