Sacramento State men’s soccer is having trouble keeping opponents off the scoreboard as it has conceded its fourth consecutive loss in Big West play.

The Hornets (2-7-3, 0-4-0) lost 2-0 to Cal State Fullerton (6-6-0, 3-1-0) in Fullerton, Calif.

Redshirt freshman goalkeeper Teddy Sampson saw his first start of the season for the Hornets.

The Titans scored both goals against Sampson in the first half. The first one coming in the 25th minute when Cal State Fullerton’s Garrett Losee deflected the corner kick past Sampson giving the Titans the 1-0 lead.

Cal State Fullerton would score less than four minutes later when the Titans Dyllan Stevens has his goal slip past the diving hand of Sampson, increasing the lead for Cal State Fullerton to 2-0.

Sac State righted themselves in the second half blanking the Titans on the scoreboard as Sampson and the backline stymied six chances that left shots veering off wide of the nets.

Sampson finished the game with four saves, two saves apiece in each half.

Sac State will make the trip back home as it will take on the Cal Poly SLO Mustangs at 4 p.m. Saturday on Hornet Field.
