Men’s basketball loses to UND by 1 point in Grand Forks

Down by five points with two minutes remaining in regulation, Sacramento State came up short by one point despite holding North Dakota scoreless during its late run.

The Hornets had their opportunities to capture the lead off late missed free throws by North Dakota, but a missed three-point attempt by senior forward John Dickson as time expired resulted in a 49-48 loss. 

The Hornets (12-11, 7-8) dropped to fifth in Big Sky Standings with five conference games remaining – two of which are at home. 

Hornet starters Dylan Garrity, Joe Eberhard and Mikh McKinney shot a combined 3 for 20 from the field, while Dickson recorded a double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds.

Sac State senior center Konner Veteto’s developed a low post presence 

Veteto ended with 16 points and nine rebounds in 29 minutes of action.

For the game, the Hornets shot 33 percent and only managed to connect on one three-point shot out of 10 attempts.

Sac State travels to Northern Colorado on Saturday in another Big Sky Conference game – tip-off is at 6:05 p.m.
