Sacramento State women’s golf finished the Rainbow Wahine Invitational on Wednesday ninth out 12 teams with a combined total score of 72-over-par, 316-310-310.

Junior Lisa Persson led the Hornets in scoring during the invitational. Persson finished the tournament solo in 32nd place shooting a 15-over-par 231, 75-75-81. The junior grabbed six birdies, 15 bogeys and three double-bogeys.

Junior Tiffany Nichols played well in a golf course that tamed even the top players in the invitational. Nichols scorecard tallied a 19-over-par 235, 82-80-73, placing her tied for 44th place.

The junior transfer improved upon each round to end up with a third-round score of 1-over-par, which was the lowest of the Hornets. Nichols collected two birdies, 13 bogeys and four double-bogeys.

Sophomore Sagee Palavivatana struggled to score close to par. Palavivatana shot a 22-over-par 238, 78-81-79, finishing the invitational tied for 51st place. The sophomore was able to pick up four birdies, 12 bogeys, 7 double-bogeys and 31 pars to wrap up her invitational.

Sophomore Nicolette Bondura was having trouble sinking the ball. Bondura finished the invitational tied for 51st place with Palavivatana and two other golfers.

Bondura’s scorecard showed that she finished with a 22-over-par 238, 81-77-80. She wound up with five birdies, 21 bogeys and 3 double-bogeys to finish the invitational.

Sophomore Lexie Hall tied for 60th place shooting a 27-over-par 243, 87-78-78. After a dismal first round, Hall seemed to regain her footing and was able to improve in the last two rounds posting 6-over-par.

Hall was able to finish the invitational with four birdies, 26 bogeys and two double- bogeys. The majority of the sophomore’s bogeys came in her first round picking up 15 bogeys alone with only three pars.

Sac State women’s golf wrapped up their fall season with a good showing in Hawaii. The next invitational for the Hornets will be Feb.17 at the Folino Invitational in Industry, Calif.
