A thrilling game at The Nest on tonight ended with a 70-69 Hornet victory over Loyola Marymount, following the eventual game winning shot by sophomore Natasha Torgerson with just 40 seconds remaining in regulation.

The win improves the Hornets record to 1-3 on the season while the loss drops the Lions to 2-2, with both losses coming from Big Sky Conference teams (Idaho State and Sacramento State).

The Hornets closed the game on an 11-3 run, having to overcome a seven point deficit with seven minutes left in the game.

Torgerson had a career night for the Hornets that included 15 points and 10 rebounds. The 6-foot-2 center hit her game winning shot near the free throw line after Tika Koshiyama-Diaz drove the lane and kicked out the pass.

Kylie Kuhns had another impressive performance by scoring eight points, 11 rebounds and a career-high nine assists. This following the sophomores 20 point, 18 rebound and six assist game against the University of Nevada on Nov. 17.

In her first start of the season, Jasmine Cannady had eight points to go along with one rebound and two steals.

LMU was led by Alex Cowling, who finished with 28 points and 14 rebounds. The forward had a double double by halftime with 16 points and 10 rebounds.

Sac State shot 44.6-percent from the floor on 29-of-65 shooting, including 8-of-23 from three-point range. The Hornets snagged 40 rebounds, committed 23 turnovers and had 22 assists on their 29 made baskets.

LMU shot 32-percent overall on 24-of-75 shooting, with 4-of-17 coming from three-point range. The Lions grabbed 52 rebounds, were pressured into 19 turnovers and had 15 assists on 24 made hoops.

The Hornets will travel to Eugene, Oregon for their next matchup when they compete in the Oregon Invitational. They will open up play with Cal State Bakersfield on Friday at 9 a.m., University of Idaho on Saturday at noon and the host University of Oregon on Sunday at 2:15 p.m.
