The women’s indoor track and field team set a school-record by scoring 167.5 points, beating second-place Northern Arizona University by a huge margin 76.5 points for the Big Sky Indoor Championship.
The Hornets scored points in all but one event over the weekend and had five women win their event, giving the Hornets their second Indoor title in three years. ??Sakya Bolton won the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 7.94 seconds while her teammate Renisha Robinson took the 800 meter title in 2:11.32 on day two of the championship.
During the first day, Naima Goodwin and Moria Robinson managed to tie in the high jump becoming co-winners.
Triple-jumper, Nicole McGlory, jumped in the record book with a jump of 40-07 &- which is third all-time at Sac State.
As for the men, Ronald Brookins led the Hornets both days to claim the third overall spot in the championship. Brookins won the long-jump during the first day while breaking the school record in the 55-meter hurdles on Saturday with a time of 7.28.
Andy White took first in the 55-meter dash with a time of 6.42 seconds and his teammate Emilio Hernandez won the high-jump with a height of 6-09.?However, the men fell short in winning the Big Sky Indoor Championship by 19 points to Northern Arizona and only 14.33 behind Montana State.??
