The Sacramento State women’s tennis team defeated Eastern Washington 6-1 and Idaho State 7-0 Thursday at the Rio Del Oro Racquet Club in Sacramento.

Juniors Anastassia Lyssenko, Luba Schifris, Karina Jarlkaganova and Joyce Martinez Gutierrez and sophomore Aileen Tsan had two singles wins apiece.

“I think the girls played well today. We’re pretty banged up but we came out and did what we had to do,” Director of Tennis Bill Campbell said.

Jarlkaganova swept both of her singles matches, going 6-0 against Marie Demerath of Eastern Washington and 6-0 against Lauren Pascoe of Idaho State.

The Hornets won five of six doubles matches on the day. They play Montana at 8 a.m. and Montana State at 4 p.m. on Saturday in Missoula, Mont. and Bozeman, Mont., respectively.
