Woman collapses in Union
February 11, 2008
An elderly woman collapsed in the University Union around noon today. She appeared to lose consciousness after witnesses said she leaned against a wall in pain.
“She went up to the (Rec Sports) desk complaining of chest pain,” said Jean Bonnet, senior psychology major.
Two women attempted CPR on her intermittently. Paramedics arrived at 12:10 p.m. and fitted her to an oxygen feed.
Christian Ruhtz, freshman biology major, said he entered the Union as the woman was leaning against the wall near the Student Store.
“She looked like she was having a heart attack,” Ruhtz said.
University Union Director Leslie Davis declined to comment.
The Sacramento Fire Department could not be reached for comment.
