The Sacramento State women’s soccer team suffered their first loss of the season at the hands of UC Davis on Sunday. UC Davis’ Marisa Boge scored the first goal of the game in the 31st minute off of an assist from Dayna Dumont. The Hornets did not score in the first half, despite the fact they attempted eight shots. Katie McCoy tied the game in the 59th minute with an unassisted goal, her fourth score of the season. The tie did not last long, however, as UC Davis took the lead back on a goal by Rochelle VanBuskirk in the 78th minute. The Hornets then tied the game once again, this time in dramatic fashion. Amanda Gray scored a goal in the 89th minute off of a Kim Kemper blocked shot, forcing overtime with less than 90 seconds remaining. In the first overtime session, Sac State attempted two shots but was unable to connect on either. The team succeeded in preventing UC Davis from taking any shots in the first overtime, but would fail to hold them in the second overtime.

Dayna Dumont netted a header in the 107th minute to seal the victory for the Aggies. UC Davis is now 4-2-0 on the season. Sac State played it’s second overtime game of the weekend, both of which ended in double overtime. On Friday the Hornets had to settle for a 3-3 tie at Nevada. They are winless on their current 3-game road trip after winning three in a row at home to open the season. Despite the loss, Sac State is 3-1-1 on the season and continues to score proficiently. The Hornets have not scored fewer then two goals a game all season and have averaged 3.2 goals per game. They will finish their road trip with a game at Saint Mary’s next Friday at 4 p.m.
