Trena Burger, a candidate for Sacramento County Superior Court Judge, will be at the University Union Delta Suite Monday, Oct. 23 from noon to 1 p.m.

Burger will meet and talk with Sacramento State students in an event sponsored by Lobby Corps, a nonpartisan student organization dedicated to voter education.

She encourages people to become lawyers.

“They can use the discipline. It gives a new perspective and can broaden your horizons,” Burger said.

Burger has been a judge pro-tem in the Sacramento Superior Court for 10 years.

She is a graduate of UC Davis, King Hall School of Law followed by four years at the District Attorney’s Office specializing in misdemeanor and felony jury trials.

Burger worked for the Law Firm of Weintraub,, Genshlea, Hardy, Erich & Brown as a Civil Attorney leaving to start her own firm, Burger & Plav in 1984.

While building her resume as a civil litigate for the State of California she was also a founding board member of Women Escaping a Violent Environment and is currently on their advisory committee.
