Ebony Nation sponsored the “2000 Edition of Organization Night,” Thursday at the Musical Recital Hall.

More than 15 organizations participated in the event that stresses an “accurate representation of Black America.”

The event also featured faculty members from the campus community.

“It?s a good thing when we can get the movers and shakers from the community to attend an event like this,” said theatre arts major and Miss Black Sacramento, Danielle Thrower. In addition to presentations and peformances by the CSUS Gospel Choir, Ebony Nation presented Jerry Blake, a Sacramento State program adviser for student activities, with an award for his dedication and “unwavering” support in the student community.

Blake, who was “very surprised” to receive the award, discussed a few uplifting issues about holding activities such as Organization Night.

“There are very few times you will see black people together,” he said. “It?s really a celebration everytime when we get together.”
