Sacramento is crawling with aspiring musicians trying to make a name for themselves.

Many music venues and clubs around Sacramento offer musicians the opportunity to showcase their talents in front of a live audience — helping them gain a local fan base.

With many resources at their disposal to make it big in our city, musicians can easily find their ticket out of Sacramento and onto the stage of a sold out arena.

Here are some artists who started in Sacramento and are now living out their dreams:

Artist: CAKE

Singer John McCrea, trumpeter Vince DiFiore, guitarist Xan McCurdy, bassist Gabe Nelson and drummer Paulo Baldi make up the alternative rock group CAKE, formed in 1991. Listeners can hear influences from different genres like country, hip-hop, mariachi and funk. The bands first single, “Rock ‘n’ Roll Lifestyle,” released in 1995, reached number 35 on the Modern Rock Tracks music chart.
