Grab those bananas you really meant to eat, and mash ’em up with a little cornmeal. The resulting paste can be used to help your dry, cracked heels. (Darryl Bush/Modesto Bee/MCT)

Just skim through the pins of Pinterest and food is everywhere. My own personal food board, “Yummy In My Tummy,” is filled with amazing looking recipes that I would love to make one day, but might never get around to it.

As I set out on this journey to find a pin to share with the Hornet, my mission was clear: Find a great snack that is easy and healthy. I tried making sweet potato chips, carrot fries and even apple chips but they were all failures. Instead of turning out to be crispy treats they turned out like soggy pancakes. Then I found the perfect snack: roasted bananas. It’s is easy and can be healthy or fatty – it just depends how you like it.

Bananas are usually our go-to fruit, but it is understandable. They are comforting and tasty, but the best part is that they are beneficial to our health. They have a high potassium content which is great for nerve and muscle function. Bananas also contain Calcium C and fiber which will help your digestive system. So when you are eating these yummy roasted bananas, just know that you are also being healthy.
