If you want to have your dessert and daily fruit in the same dish, this grilled pineapple dessert is open to your own personal touches and the best way to fulfill your fruit cravings.

Grilling fruit is a great way to expand any fruit’s sweet tastes and allows them to be as sweet as candy. Grilling pineapple is no exception, offering a sugary taste without its drawbacks. Additionally, pineapple may be marinated in virtually anything before grilling.

For this recipe, which was adapted from tasteofhome.com, the grilled pineapple dessert presents itself as a sweet and healthy alternative to other desserts like a sugar-loaded fudge sundae, while incorporating other low-fat and fiber-rich ingredients.

Grilled Pineapple Dessert

Servings: 6

Total Cook Time: 20 minutes

1 Pineapple

1 tablespoon butter

1 teaspoon brown sugar

½ teaspoon vanilla extract

¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon

3 cups vanilla frozen yogurt

6 tablespoons caramel ice cream topping, heated

6 tablespoons granola

Begin by carving the pineapple. Cut entire pineapple into rings and core out the centers and set aside. In a small bowl, place butter, sugar, vanilla extract and cinnamon together then microwave for one to two minutes, or until butter is completely melted. Once melted, take cooking brush and cover both sides of each pineapple ring with the butter mix.

For grilling, a normal barbecue, oven broil or an electric grill may be used. To use the electric grill, place rings on the grill surface and close lid. Let rings grill for three to five minutes, and remove once lightly browned on both side.

Once grilled, place one or two rings on an individual plate and serve with a couple of scoops of frozen yogurt, sprinkles of granola and a light drizzle of heated caramel.

Pineapple is an excellent source of numerous vitamins, such as vitamin C, and is regarded as one of the most nutritious of fruits. Combining the nutrition of the pineapple with frozen yogurt and toppings may replace your favorite guilty pleasure dessert or add a new one to the menu.

Get out the grill and the frozen yogurt – there is a new dessert in town.
