The Sacramento State women’s tennis team continued to dominate in conference play by beating both its opponents during a doubleheader Friday.

The Sac State women, who are ranked No. 43 in the nation, remained undefeated in conference play by winning all seven of their matches in the morning against Weber State and then repeating the feat in the afternoon against Idaho State.

Head coach Dima Hrynashka said he was very pleased with the effort of his athletes.

“The girls showed a really good level of game,” Hrynashka said.

Senior Tatsiana Kapshai won both her matches in singles play, 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 and moved to 3-0 in conference play. The Hornets (6-3, 3-0 Big Sky) only lost a total of six points in their singles matches.

Freshman Chyna Brown said this should not come as a surprise considering the women’s team has not lost a conference match in more than 12 years.

“It was a breeze,” Brown said. “We’ve won all of our conference matches so far, so that’s good.”

Brown said she believes this year’s team has what it takes to keep the winning streak alive.

“I predict we will win conference again this year,” Brown said.

Hrynashka said he hopes that is the case.

“Anything can happen in sports,” Hrynashka said. “But I hope Sac State will do it again this year.”
