A Sacramento Superior Court judge today set a trial date for the Sacramento State student accused of beating his suitemate to death in October 2009.

Quran Jones will stand trial for the alleged homicide on Sept. 19, according to a News 10 report.

Jones allegedly beat Scott Hawkins, 23, to death with a baseball bat in the American River Courtyard residence halls. Police responded to the incident and shot Jones three times after he charged at them with a knife, which left him paralyzed.

Jones has been charged with one count of homicide and three counts of assault with a deadly weapon.
